It is my great pleasure and indeed an honour for me to have been selected for the position of Club President once again and I hope I can continue to bring the club forward as many presidents in the past have done, I hope to continue the work done over the past few years since we were promoted to senior status and also the tremendous groundwork and hard graft put in by many down through the ‘lean years’ who always believed and had a vision of what we could achieve. I am delighted report that the club has made another small piece of history with the election of Jennifer Donovan as our first lady Vice President, a role I know she will carry out to her usual high standards. I am also delighted to welcome Trevor Hogan on board, Trevor comes back to the club as head coach this season and brings with him a wealth of experience from his time with Shannon, Munster, Leinster and of course Ireland. Assisting Trevor, our Director of Rugby, Pat Whelan who needs no introduction as he is know the length and breadth of the country for the great work he has done for the game of rugby. I wish our Team Manager Keith Hayes and his assistant Rodney Hayes the best of luck for the coming season, unfortunately due to the current economic climate we have lost at least 7 of our senior players from last season due to emigration. We wish them well and look forward to them returning home to better times. We have however a good crop of younger players who have been training hard over the summer months and are more than ready and willing to take over, we look forward to watching some fast, skilful rugby over the coming months. As we start into the 2011/2012 season I hope you all enjoy the facilities and hospitality our club has to offer. Facilities which we can only maintain with the help of our generous sponsors and supporters. We continue to be fortunate here in Nenagh Ormond with the generosity of local businesses and I would like to thank you all for your continued help in these challenging financial times.
To our club members and supporters I would like to extend a welcome to the season ahead. It is only because of your support and voluntary work that we can continue to be as successful as we are.
To all our players, coaches and team managers I wish you all the very best for the coming season and hope that you enjoy success at all levels from our under 8s up through our underage structure, who are afterall, the future of our club, to our Ladies and Senior squads. In Nenagh Ormond we have always tried to improve our facilities, our resources and most importantly our league position and this year will be no different.
I would like to pay a special tribute to those of our life members who have contributed to the development of our Gym facilities which are a huge addition to the club. This gesture is very much appreciated.
Michael Mackey Nenagh Ormond RFC Club President 2011/2012
