President’s Message Dear Friends, I am honoured as President of Nenagh Ormond RFC, the first senior club in Tipperary, to extend a very warm welcome to all our visiting teams, guests, referees and touch judges to Ormond Park.
I would like to thank the players for representing us with the highest standard of rugby we could ask for. For the coaches who put in so much of their time and effort and to see the results is something to be very proud of from U/8 right up to senior level. I would also like to thank the supporters and committee members and of course the opposing teams for their enthusiasm, support and dedication through the year and years to come.
Also a big thank you to all of our sponsors and contributors for their continued financial support and especially to Sean and Mary McCullough, Nenagh Quickfit Tyre Centre and Bridgestone Ireland who are our main club sponsor for the season 2008/09.
On a final note I wish to inform all of our members and supporters that we are currently undertaking a development programme to erect match grade floodlighting to our 2 playing pitches and future all weather training area at our club grounds in Lisatunny. We have received approval from the Dept. Of Sports, Tourism & Arts that our Sports Capital allocation of €60,000 granted in April 2007 can be used towards our floodlighting development. The total cost of this floodlighting project will be in the region of €160,000.00. We have applied to North Tipperary Co. Co and Nenagh Town Council for matching funding from their Community, Sports and Cultural Grants Scheme, and we have been told that they will also grant aid us. With these grants along with our own fundraising that has been undertaken over the last number of seasons and our proposed fundraising this season, we believe that we will be in a position to complete this project without subjecting the club to any major financial debt. To this end we have appointed a contractor to carry out this project and we have paid a 25% deposit. The contractor is due to be on site at the end of September to commence work and we hope to have the floodlighting operational by mid October 2008. To this end we are currently organising a Confined Members Draw with a 1st Prize of a trip for two to the British & Irish Lions Tour to South Africa in June 2009. This draw will take place in October 2008. We would ask all club members to make a special effort to make this draw a particular success.
Finally may I wish everyone the best of luck for the coming season.
